Tradition dictates that hosts wear specific attire and offer guests music, food, and entertainment. In countries like India, for example, weddings are grand affairs where hosts wear traditional attire such as sarees and sherwanis, and organize music and dance performances, including the popular sangeet ceremony. The expenses incurred for these elements reflect the host’s personal style and social status. Additionally, celebrations provide an opportunity to share accomplishments with friends and family, strengthening social connections within the community.

In recent years though, a noticeable shift has occurred among younger generations regarding the nature of celebrations. Similarly, young couples often choose intimate wedding ceremonies, inviting only their closest relatives and friends. In the former scenario, both parents and teenagers appreciate this modern approach, reducing the pressure to organize large social events. In the second, engaged couples focus on sharing their joy with those who truly matter, believing that bigger celebrations can be an unnecessary drain on time, energy, and finances.

In conclusion, the nature and scale of celebrations are closely tied to individual beliefs and aspirations. Whether one opts for an extravagant affair or a modest gathering, both types of events hold significant social value.
